The One with the Week in Utah

Sorry I've been MIA for nearly 6 days! That's the longest I've ever not blogged and I'm excited to get back into the swing of things. It would have helped if I had brought my camera card reader with me, but it was actually quite nice to take a break and really get some rest and relaxation. Here is what we've been up to the past week in Utah:
Sunday, after church and a delicious curry lunch at the Warners (Grandma's curry is soooooo much better than mine!), we headed up to Park City where we stayed for the week. We passed Bridal Veil Falls on the way and saw lots of people trying to cool off in the mist.
Photobucket
It started raining. Hallelujah. We were in some serious need of a weather change.
Photobucket
Park City is such a cute ski town.
Photobucket
Each of these houses could sell for over a million bucks. Wowzers.
Photobucket
Main Street.
Photobucket
Me 'n my li'l sis. Do you think we look alike? I sorta see a resemblance.
Photobucket
Monday morning we went with Eric and Tanya to Salt Lake to the Gateway to drop off my ring to get it cleaned.
Back in Park City we went to the outlet mall and shopped, I finally picked out a cute baby bag, then we ate dinner at Cafe Rio. I swear it tastes better in Utah than it does in California...
Tuesday morning we headed to Orem and stopped at Target to get Mocking Jay and LOST season 6. Priorities people. I have to get my loot.
Photobucket
Then we went to the Animal Ark because I can't resist. They had an entire plastic swimming pool of baby bunnies and guinea pigs out front. Tempty tempty!
Photobucket
Pile'o'bunnies! Soooooo stinkin' cute!
Photobucket
Didju know they're building a Texas Roadhouse at the University Mall? That's almost enough to make Chris quit school and get us to move back to Utah!
Photobucket
Then Chris dropped me off at American Crafts and I had a blast visiting with everyone and seeing all the new people and peeking at the latest and greatest product. I want my box of goodies NOW!
For lunch we all went to a new restaurant called Cafe Paesan which supposedly was started by the same people who started Cafe Rio. It was very very good. I'd definitely recommend it and go back in the future.
Photobucket
After lunch Alisha took me to the new Scrapbook Trends office. This is the computer that I link up to a good chunk of my day. It's funny to see it in real life rather than remotely.
Photobucket
Chris picked me up then we went to the BYU Creamery on 9th to get some ice cream. Best. Ice. Cream. Ever. I got cookies and cream and Chris got marionberry. We devoured our scoops in minutes.
Photobucket
We cruised around campus, browsed through the bookstore, then went to Crest so Chris could get his daily Mt. Dew.
Photobucket
Back at Park City, my family wanted to go on a "walk" up to the old mining scene. Park City was originally a silver mine town and a lot of the mines have just been left to rust. It was fun to see these old abandoned parts and imagine what they would have looked like back in the day when they were still functioning.
Photobucket
Tracks.
Photobucket
Yeah. That door says "explosives" on it...
Photobucket
One of my favorite video games is Super NES Donkey Kong and one level you ride through a mine tunnel in a cart just like this.
Photobucket
I don't know what this is, but it's neat!
Photobucket
This house-turned-storage-facility was super creepy inside.
Photobucket
STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT!

The floors are covered in garbage and core samples. And rat poop. I got out of there quickly after taking pictures cuz I didn't want to breathe that crap in.
Photobucket
Eric's the king of the world!
Photobucket
Us.
Photobucket
Cool building.
Photobucket
It would not be a good idea to grab these window frames! That glass would cut right through your hands!
Photobucket
Me and my baby belly via shadow.

Wednesday was my cousin Maren's wedding day and the reason for us being in Utah in the first place. I'm so glad we actually made it (unlike last year when we missed Sara Jayne's wedding cuz Jadis escaped...). We walked through the beautiful Joseph Smith Memorial Building to get to the temple.
Photobucket
Salt Lake City Temple.
Photobucket
The sealing was incredible. I don't remember mine at all, I was just too darn nervous, so it was good to see how marriages happen again. I cried. I didn't even cry at my own sealing!
Here is the new Mr. and Mrs. Theodore.
Photobucket
Don't they just look so happy and in love? :)
Photobucket
Eric and Tanya outside the Lion House where we ate a delicious wedding lunch.
Photobucket
The reception was held on the top floor of the The Point at the U of U.
Photobucket
It was beautiful. And supposedly the wedding sign in book that I made for Maren was a success. Phew! So much pressure! :)
Photobucket
That's my cousin once removed Alli and my grandma Doris. I think they look like carbon copies of each other!
Photobucket
Thursday we went to Olympic Park and saw skiers practicing on these wooden jumps, do fancy tricks in the air, then land in the pool.
Photobucket
I've never wanted to go swimming so badly in my life. Doesn't that water look so inviting? Especially when it's so darn hot outside!
Photobucket
We went to the outlets again for a minute, cruised through Deer Valley, then took a nap at the hotel. Then we packed up and headed to Provo to meet Eric and Tanya for dinner and a movie.
Would you like some fries with that fry sauce? Burger's Supreme has the best fries and fry sauce EVER.
Photobucket
Then we went and saw a movie at the dollar theater: How to Train Your Dragon. I am so embarrassed by this but I actually had nightmares last night that I was being chased by a huge dragon! I always get nightmares after watching Jurassic Park so I guess this is just a similar reaction. Even if it was a cartoon...
Photobucket
Today we drove back to LA.
Photobucket
So now we're home and enjoying our last couple days of freedom before school starts again. And before this baby comes! In 7 weeks! Where has the time gone???....

That was the funnest trip ever! You were such a good sport to go on the silver mine hike. But what happened to all the games you brought? And what about the rolls at the Beehive House?

Your trip looks great! We were in Provo for a little bit this past week too to help my little sister move into college, and we went to Cafe Paesan, too. I really liked it!

don't worry about the weird dreams. i read mockingjay last night right before i went to bed and when i woke up in the middle of the night to feed j, i was fresh out of a dream where some weird worm climbs in your nose and takes over your brain. uh, weird.

it was good to see you for five seconds! glad you had a nice trip.

What a fun week! I must admit that your post made me nostalgic for those BYU/Utah days. Especially the shot of the dollar store with the scooter in the picture. We had a scooter we took there all the time (sniff, sniff). Those rolls at Texas Roadhouse are to die for!

Utah sure is a beautiful place, lol! Thanks for sharing the link to Paesan, it's right by my house, but from the outside, that neon sign doesn't look too appealing, you know....and those fries, yummy!

Your shadow preggers pic is prob one of the cutest/best/coolest preggers pics I've ever seen. I love everything about it, especially that it's so stretched out.
