Found this on Street Anatomy this early morn and always want to remember it.
Look closely and you can see words carved/ingrained/plucked (but most likely photoshopped) into them.

The One with the Maple Coffin
So my brother is in Oaxaca, Mexico serving a two year mission for the church. He gets back on July 27th and we're all so excited to see him again and be in his hilarious presence. I mean, if this video doesn't make you laugh, I don't know what will. Gets me every time.
N-E-Wayz.
When I started searching through the pictures he's emailed us to go with this post, I noticed right off the bat how colorful Mexico is!

Eric gets to email us once a week on Monday. He ended his letter yesterday with:
"Well that’s about all I got!!!! Be good. Peace in the middle east. If I die this week of the flu then….. I want a maple coffin.
Love,
E taylor"
I guess it's next on my dad's list of things to build...

The One with Factories
These pictures hark from Bouncing Ball.
"There is something fascinating about factories at night: the surreal colors, the dazzling lights, smoke billowing through the night air, the almost audible sound of a busy industrial complex. The photos themselves conjure up images of some strange, enormous, metallic creatures of the night on an alien landscape."

These factories remind me of the paintings Marlene made for her BFA final of the former Geneva Steel.

I was lucky enough to purchase one of her drawings before she moved to Omaha:

Then One when Plans Changed
We had some big plans today to clean the house, get lunch at Apple Spice and then drive to Draper to do a session at the new temple.
Here's how things really went.
We woke up at 6am to get cleaning cages/the apartment over with and be done by 9am. So far so good.
I talked to my friend and coworker Nichole to see if she wanted to come to lunch with us at Apple Spice. She read online that they're only open Monday-Friday so she called to see if such was true. Somebody answered the phone just to confirm they're closed on Saturday.
Ummmmmm. What kind of restaurant isn't open on SATURDAY?! I can understand not being opened on Sundays, especially in Utah, but not being opened on Saturday? Madness! Everyone does their errands on Saturdays, you should see the local Wal-Mart and Costco on Saturdays, they're jam packed. I can't imagine the reasoning behind this craziness. Oh well.
Instead we had some cereal for brunch and drove all the way out to the Draper Temple.

Only to find out we needed to call ahead and make an appointment to do a session. Madness! I guess since it just barely opened it's a very popular temple. We went ahead and scheduled a 4pm appointment for Friday May 8th, our two year anniversary! Presh.
Check out these monstrous houses right across from the temple. They're huge!

On the way home we stopped at JCWs cuz I've heard it's da bomb. It was pretty good. I'm still all about Burger's Supreme in Provo though. Can't beat their fries and fry sauce.
I can't say this day has been for naught though, I came home to a fun little somethin' in the mail, care of Anthropologie:

Oooooh, buttons! My favorite!

Looks like I'll be making a trip up to SLC May 28th.
And now we're off to dinner at Nichole's so all's well that ends well.
Random side note - people in Utah get married. That's what they do. I highly recommend it :) But my point is, the Saturday after spring finals is probably the #1 day to get married in Utah. That would be today. And it's been raining cats and dogs all day long. Poor brides! I bet they're singing "Isn't it Ironic" by Alanis Morissette. "IT'S LIKE RAAAAIN, on your wedding day..."
